There are millions of websites out
there; here are just a few that we have found useful.
Visit www.Pandora.com
and Listen to just the Music YOU like online - FREE! - and Legal!
www.Pandora.com
Pandora.com is a GREAT, FREE tool for music lovers to create their own
"radio stations" that play only the types of music that they love,
FREE, with NO COMMERCIALS, and it's all legal. Simply type in the name of
an artist or a song that you like, for example, and Pandora will play songs by
that artist, or songs by artists in a genre that is similar to the artist or
song you like. If Pandora starts playing a song you don't like, you can
click on the "thumbs down" image, and the song will immediately stop
playing, and a new one will begin. (A clear advantage over the
radio!) And Pandora will remember in the future that you don't like that
song/artist. After a certain number of thumbs down it won't play the
artist/song unless you request that it be added to your personalized Pandora
"station." You can create lots of different personalized
"stations" at Pandora. Pandora remembers your
"stations" so that as you return to Pandora you can simply choose a
style of music station that you previously "created" - to fit your
current mood.
Pandora was the creation of the Music
Genome Project?. As described on the Pandora website:
"On January 6, 2000 a group of musicians and music-loving technologists came together with the idea of creating the most comprehensive analysis of music ever.
Together we set out to capture the essence of music at the most fundamental level. We ended up assembling literally hundreds of musical attributes or "genes" into a very large Music Genome. Taken together these genes capture the unique and magical musical identity of a song - everything from melody, harmony and rhythm, to instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics, and of course the rich world of singing and vocal harmony. It's not about what a band looks like, or what genre they supposedly belong to, or about who buys their records - it's about what each individual song sounds like.
Since we started back in 2000, we've carefully listened to the songs of tens of thousands of different artists - ranging from popular to obscure - and analyzed the musical qualities of each song one attribute at a time. This work continues each and every day as we endeavor to include all the great new stuff coming out of studios, clubs and garages around the world.
It has been quite an adventure, you could say a little crazy - but now that we've created this extraordinary collection of music analysis, we think we can help be your guide as you explore your favorite parts of the music universe.
We hope you enjoy the journey.

Founder
The Music Genome Project" quoted from http://www.pandora.com/mgp
During the holidays, I listened to
several different holiday music stations that I created by simply typing in one
song or artist that I liked; Pandora filled in the rest. I have ended up
purchasing a number of CDs after having discovered a song or artist via
Pandora. I am going to head to www.Pandora.com
right now and listen to music as I write! Try it; it's really an amazing
web tool for music lovers.
Google Earth
Google Earth is an amazing tool. Type in your own address and focus in (you may
even see your car parked there). Then scroll out from your home and see
the bird's eye view, all the way out into the universe. Take a look at the
wonders of the world. www.googleearth.com
